Training after physical therapy in McLean & Great Falls, VA

Physical therapy got you moving again. Post-rehab training builds the strength and confidence to keep you there, with a coach who plans every session around how your body is responding.

Why the weeks after PT matter

Physical therapy usually ends when you can handle daily life again, not when you are back to full strength. Most people leave with a sheet of home exercises and no one checking how they are going.

That is the gap post-rehab training fills. We keep building load gradually and track how the area responds, so you can get back to lifting, hiking, golf, travel or keeping up with your kids and grandkids without guessing what is safe.

After PT on your own

Home exercises that stop progressing. No one watching form. Unsure when to add weight. Easy to drift back to old habits.

With post-rehab coaching

A plan built from your history and your PT's guidance. Load added in small steps. Form coached every rep. Retests that show your progress.

Who it is for

Adults who have finished physical therapy, or been cleared by their provider, and want to keep getting stronger.

Knee surgery or injury

ACL and meniscus repairs, knee replacements, and knee pain that flares when you try to train again.

Hip & shoulder

Hip replacements, rotator cuff repairs and shoulder injuries, where range of motion and strength need to come back together.

Back & neck

Recurring back or neck issues where you want to train with confidence instead of avoiding the gym.

Back after time off

Adults 40+ returning after an injury, surgery or a long break who want a careful, structured restart.

How it works

  1. 01

    Free consultation

Your injury or surgery history, what your PT worked on, your goals and your schedule.

  2. 02

    Movement assessment

Mobility and strength measured left against right, plus how the area handles load.

  3. 03

    Your plan

Built from the assessment and your PT's discharge guidance, with a clear starting point.

  4. 04

    Train & retest

Pain and feel checked every session. Retests every few weeks so you can see the progress.

Your PT's guidance shapes the plan

We start where your physical therapist left off, not from scratch. With your permission we can share assessment results and progress with your PT, and we follow any restrictions they or your doctor set.

  • Exercises progressed in small, measured steps
  • Slow, controlled reps through a comfortable range
  • Clear signs for when to push and when to back off

Coaching, not medical treatment. If something does not seem right, we will refer you back to your provider.

“He listens to me and tailors workouts to my specific goals and physical limitations… I have experienced increased strength, reduced back, neck and knee pain, and better understand how to care for my physical health.”

Questions

Is this physical therapy?

No. Physical therapy is medical treatment from a licensed therapist. Post-rehab training is coaching: we pick up after you have been discharged or cleared, and we work within the guidance your PT or doctor gives you.

Do I need clearance before starting?

Yes. We ask that you are discharged from PT or cleared by your provider for exercise. Bring your discharge notes or home exercise program to your free consultation if you have them.

How soon after PT can I start?

As soon as you are cleared. Many clients start within a few weeks of their last PT visit, while the habits and exercises are still fresh.

Will you talk to my physical therapist?

With your written permission, yes. We can share your assessment results and progress, and follow any restrictions they set.

Is it covered by insurance?

Personal training is not billed to insurance. You can see current rates on our Training Prices page, and the first consultation and movement assessment are free.

What if something starts to hurt?

We check in on pain and how the area feels every session and adjust the plan. If something does not seem right, we will recommend you check back in with your provider before we continue.

Where do sessions happen?

At The Sculpted Sanctuary in McLean, at Great Falls Movement Center in Great Falls, or in your home in McLean, Great Falls, Vienna or Reston.
